HP ZV6000 Problems

Hi, yesterday I upgraded to Windows Vista Beta 2...it does not recognize my sound card, modem (Conexant PCI), and some mass storage device (not sure what that is). Anyone have a suggestion about sound device drivers?

Hi Rob,
I had the same problem on my ZV6000. I managed to find 64-bit drivers for all those devices. If you're using the 64-bit version of Vista, I still have the drivers and can send them to you. Just reply and give me your email address, and I'll send them to you.

Hi Rob,
I had the same problem with my ZV6000. I found 64-bit drivers for Vista and got all the devices to work. If you want the 64-bit drivers, just post your email address, and I'll send them to you.

Mike,
Thanks for the offer. I am using the 32 bit version because the x64 really messed up my machine. I managed to find drivers that work and all systems seem to be running smoothly now...though I have run into a few programs that will not operate at all, so far nothing I can't live without.

Hi Rob,
Glad to hear you got your problem solved. I started out with 512MB on the x64 version, and it was very slow. I bought memory to bring it up to 2GB, and it is about as fast as it was with XP Home. I have the 3500+ processor and a 60GB 7200 rpm drive, so that probably helps a little, too. Anyway, it seems usable, but eventually maybe I'll try the 32-bit Vista. Is there a noticeable difference in speed between 32-bit and 64-bit?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi RB,
It took me a long time to find them, but the following link was what finally got me fixed. It's meant for some kind of Compaq, but the hardware listed is the same as what my ZV6000 has. Hope this helps!

Thank you Mike, I will try that link and see if the drivers there will work for me.

I tried the audio driver but it would not work for me. I get a message that a file could not be found. (The same message I get with every driver I try).
The driver for the card reader did work.

Don't use the installation utility that comes with the drivers. Extract the driver package, then go through the "Add Hardware" in Control Panel, and tell it you have the disk. Just point at the folder that has the .inf file, and let it install. It may take a while, mine did, but it worked.

I did finally get the audio to work using the vista beta driver from Realtec posted elsewhere in this newsgroup. It took several tries, including running the setup under compatibilty mode as administrator, and then doing what you said to get it to recognize the software.

When I booted up Vista today, it would not recognize the sound again, and I can not get it to work again. I guess it is back to the drawing board for me.
